Joel Anderson
Joel Anderson was a veteran of the UALR faculty when he became chancellor in 2003. Anderson started as an assistant professor of political science. He became the first dean of the graduate school and helped design the first 17 master's programs. A native of Swifton, Anderson was the student body president at Harding College (now University) at Searcy, received a master’s from American University at Washington, D.C., and achieved a Ph.D. in political science from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor in 1974. He also completed the Institute for Education Management program at Harvard University in Cambridge, Mass.
