George Gleason II

George Gleason directed Bank of the Ozarks’ continued expansion of its Texas operations through new branches and acquisitions. Company growth was significantly boosted through a series of FDIC-assisted purchases across the Southeast. Total assets have climbed to $6.3 billion, with operations in nine states, including the $216 million acquisition of Summit Bancorp Inc. of Arkadelphia in May. Gleason began his banking career as a CEO, launched with a bank buy at 24. He took the venture public with a 1997 IPO of $21.3 million.
