R. Madison Murphy
R. Madison Murphy, a son of the founder of Murphy Oil Corp., oversees the Murphy Foundation, a private family foundation that provides educational scholarships to students primarily at Arkansas and Louisiana colleges and universities. It also supports various other charitable causes throughout Arkansas and gives money to Hendrix College.
The foundation had assets of $58.8 million as of April 30, 2010, and had made awards totaling more than $3 million as of April 30. Murphy is a director of Murphy Oil and former chairman of the board. He also serves on the boards of BancorpSouth Inc. and Deltic Timber Corp., is chairman of the board of Hendrix and of the Arkansas Citizens Commission to Streamline State Government and is a member of the Arkansas State Highway Commission.
