Clinton National Holiday Travel Numbers Down Slightly

1 min read

More than 45,100 people are expected to fly out of Clinton National Airport in Little Rock over the Christmas holidays, a slight decrease over last year, according to Transportation Security Administration figures released by the airport Tuesday.

The holidays, for travel purposes, are considered to be Dec. 19 through Jan. 2. TSA said 45,110 travelers will depart from Little Rock this season, down 1.4 percent from last year’s total of 45,764. Projections count departures only.

Dec. 19th was the busiest day at Clinton National with 3,631 passengers departing. Historically, the Thanksgiving holiday week is the busiest of the year for the airport.

Airport officials said Clinton National will see more leisure passengers over the holidays, and issued the following tips for infrequent travelers:

  • Airlines ask that you be at the airport 90 minutes before your flight. This will allow time to check-in, handle any security waits and be at the gate on time.
  • Travelers may bring 1 carry-on bag and 1 personal item, such as a purse or laptop.
  • Liquids, gels and aerosols as carry-one follow 3-1-1 guidelines: 3.4 ounces, or less, per container; must fit in 1 quart size, clear, plastic zip top bag; 1 bag per passenger
  • Do not wrap gifts as officers may have to search contents of packages.
  • Before leaving home, check your air carrier’s website to make sure your flight is on-time and check in online if possible. However, those checking luggage will still need to stop at the airline ticket counter.
  • For quick pick-up, customers may use metered parking in front of baggage claim.
