Asa Hutchinson Names Mark Myers Information Systems Director

1 min read

Gov. Asa Hutchinson has announced Mark Myers as director of the Department of Information Systems.

Myers was director of strategic initiatives at the Arkansas Secretary of State’s office. He’d been in the position since 2011. He previously worked in the technology industry for Loislaw.com

“Technology changes daily, if not hourly and the trust the governor has put in me to lead one of the most dynamic agencies in government is both inspiring and humbling,” Myers said in a statement.

Myers is a Major in the U.S. Army Reserves and has done two deployments in Iraq, and one in Afghanistan. He received two Bronze Stars, three Army Commendation Medals and several other military awards.

“[Myers’] technology background in the military, coupled with his breadth of experience in this field, makes him the ideal choice as the new director of DIS,” Hutchinson said in a statement.
