Longtime Riceland Foods CEO Richard Bell Dies at Age 81

STUTTGART – Longtime Riceland Foods Inc. president and chief executive officer Richard Bell has died in Stuttgart.

Bell also served as Arkansas first agriculture secretary. He was 81 when he died Friday according to Turpin Funeral Home in Stuttgart. Private funeral services were held Tuesday.

Bell joined Riceland in 1977 as executive vice president and chief operating officer and remained with the company for 27 years, until 2004.

In 2005 he was named Arkansas secretary of agriculture by the Arkansas Agriculture Board after the state Legislature merged several state agencies to create the state Agriculture Department. He remained in that job until retiring in 2012.
