MISO Transfers Operations to Little Rock Facility

1 min read

The Midcontinent Independent Transmission System Operator has transferred its South operations to its 50,000-SF facility in west Little Rock, a spokesman said Monday.

The operator said the transition was made at midnight, shifting operations from the main control center in Carmel, Indiana.

“System Operators at MISO’s control center in Little Rock will ensure delivery of reliable least-cost energy to wholesale energy customers in the company’s South region, which includes Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi and parts of Texas,” spokesman Andy Schonert said in an email.

More than 40 employees at the operations center work with operators at the main control center and another facility in Minnesota on services including market operations and government and regulatory affairs, Schonert said.

Entergy Arkansas, which joined MISO in late 2013, estimated that its Arkansas customers saved $46 million during its first year with the operator.

MISO broke ground on the $22 million west Little Rock facility in March 2014.
