Phil Elson Replaced as Voice of Razorbacks Baseball

1 min read

Arkansas Razorbacks baseball announcer Phil Elson has been replaced for the rest of the playoffs.

Andrew Giangola, a spokesman for IMG College, which produces radio broadcasts for the University of Arkansas, said in an email that Alex Perlman will be calling the team’s remaining games this season. Perlman is also an announcer for the SEC Network and has filled in as the play-by-play announcer for baseball.

Giangola declined to comment on whether Elson still had a contract through IMG or to explain why he was replaced.

The university said in October that Elson would be calling games for the baseball and women’s basketball teams. Elson had been the longtime announcer for the Arkansas Travelers and had been a fill-in announcer for Razorbacks baseball since 2011.

The Razorbacks are set to play Missouri State in the NCAA Super Regional this weekend.
