Jerry Cohen Named New Manager of War Memorial Stadium

2 min read

Stadium Commission Chairman Kevin Crass announced that Jerry Cohen has been named manager of War Memorial Stadium in Little Rock, effective July 1.

Cohen replaces Charles W. Staggs, who is retiring after 29 years at the stadium and serving as manager since December 1999.

Cohen has been assistant manager for the past five years. Before that, he provided freelance special events support to the stadium for major events including collegiate football games.

“Jerry understands the intricate details of stadium management and his passion for War Memorial makes him an excellent choice to lead us into the future,” Crass said in a news release. “His statewide and regional connections will serve us well as we aggressively market the stadium to attract new events.”

In 1970, Cohen was the student trainer for athletic teams at Horace Mann Junior High School.  He continued as an athletic trainer through high school and on into his days at the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville where he supported both the Razorbacks football and basketball teams.

“Jerry has earned the opportunity to lead War Memorial,” Staggs said. “I admire his work ethic, his common sense and business acumen. He’s the right person at the right time for the job. I feel good leaving for retirement, knowing that Jerry’s in the corner office.”

As a community volunteer and owner of RBM Communications, Cohen served as logistics and security chairman for many of central Arkansas’ largest events, such as Riverfest, the Susan G. Komen Arkansas Race for the Cure and the Acansa Festival.
