Martha Miller Soon To Take Over Arkansas Department of Heritage

1 min read

Martha Miller will replace former Arkansas Department of Heritage Director Cathie Matthews, who served for 15 years before retiring last year.

“Martha is a lifelong Arkansan who has strong experience within the department and with state government,” Gov. Mike Beebe said in a press release. “Promoting her from her position as deputy director was an easy and sensible decision in light of Cathie Matthews’ retirement.”

Miller attended Lyon College and the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. She also graduated in 1978 with a law degree from the UALR William H. Bowen School of Law.

In addition to being a lobbyist and self-employed attorney, Miller has served as a board member of the Little Rock Interfaith Hospitality Network, Audubon Arkansas and Lyon College. She previously held the position of deputy director of the Department of Arkansas Heritage Museums, which oversees many of the state’s cultural and artistic institutions.
