Verizon Completes 4G Network in Arkansas

1 min read

Verizon Wireless has announced that its 4G LTE data network in Arkansas is complete.

It was originally launched in Arkansas on Aug. 18, 2011.

“That was a very big step,” said Leo Perreault, executive director of network in the company’s south central region. “Obviously we started in larger cities first, but in the course of a few very short years, we’ve now substantially completed the launch of LTE across the state.”

Perreault said the LTE service will be available to 99.5 percent of the state’s population — everywhere there’s voice coverage.

“We’re excited about that,” he said.

The company spent about $200 million across 2011 and 2012 on its wireless network, which Perrault said included rolling out LTE in Arkansas.

The 4G LTE service is expected to be available in all parts of the nation with Verizon voice service by the end of 2013, Perrault said.
