1 min read

LITTLE ROCK – Little Rock is designating a day in early December to encourage charitable efforts.

Mayor Mark Stodola proclaimed that Dec. 3 is “Giving Tuesday,” and residents are urged to take part in charitable activities that help nonprofit organizations.

Little Rock-based Heifer International and the Arkansas Foodbank are among the participants.

Stodola says people can give of their time through community service, give food or make other contributions that help charitable groups as part of the holiday season.

Heifer International is working in 30 countries to help reduce hunger and enable people to become self-sufficient.

The Arkansas Foodbank is the largest charitable food organization in the state and it supplies about 300 food pantries and other providers of nutrition to the needy.
