Arkansas Children’s House to Receive $1M from Heartland Bank, Terry and Walter Quinn

1 min read
Heartland Bank of Bryant announced Monday a $1 million cornerstone gift for the Arkansas Children’s House facility at Arkansas Children’s Hospital.

A $500,000 gift was made by the bank’s Heartland Foundation, its newly created charitable arm, which was matched by Terry and Walter Quinn of Little Rock, the bank’s majority shareholders and longtime supporters of the facility.

Arkansas Children’s House provides a homelike atmosphere for children to receive comprehensive, forensic medical exams related to child maltreatment. The facility was created to provide comfortable settings to minimize trauma for children who must undergo examinations for abuse. Referrals to the facility are made by physicians, law enforcement or the state Department of Human Services.
The Heartland Foundation has planned more giving for December. Later this month, it will donate $10,000 for the Children’s Center at Our House; $10,000 for the Forensic Interview Program at the Children’s Protection Center; $3,750 for the Food for Kids Program at the Arkansas Rice Depot; $2,500 for the Teach Grant Program at Economic Arkansas; $2,500 to The Beyond Batten Disease Foundation; and $2,500 to the Arkansas Tech Foundation.

“Heartland Bank is a community bank,” said Heartland Bank president and CEO Rick O’Brien. “We can think of no better way to serve our communities than to protect and nurture our children.”
