Don McDonald was recently named one of the 2014 Top 400 Financial Advisers by the Financial Times. The honor is given to financial advisers who show excellence as professionals for high net-worth clients.

Throughout his career, McDonald said, he has emphasized listening to his clients, creating an environment of trust and serving them through personalized financial strategies. “Service is a hard thing to find nowadays,” he said. “We want to give a good value and value is more than just a price.”

Born in Texas, McDonald considers Arkansas to be home. He lived in northeast Arkansas at an early age, helping his parents on their farm. McDonald said: “You worked hard. You had to work hard.” He received a bachelor’s degree in business administration with an emphasis in finance from Southern Arkansas University in Magnolia in 1989. McDonald started his career at Merrill Lynch following graduation, working as a wealth manager and portfolio manager.

He has served on the International Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention, based in Nashville, Tennessee, for three years. In 2013, he traveled to East Asia to discuss missionary goals for future international trips. He also has assisted Fort Smith Patriots basketball teams for four years.
