The IRS is going after a Benton County married couple for allegedly not paying federal taxes.
The amount Randall and Tracey Bergeron allegedly owe?
The lawsuit filed by the IRS in U.S. District Court in Fayetteville said Randall Bergeron didn’t bother to file federal income tax returns for 2002-12 “despite having sufficient income to do so.”
He managed to file his taxes for the tax years 2013-16 but failed to pay the amount reported as due, the lawsuit said. As of Feb. 26, he owes $1.1 million.
Randall Bergeron’s wife, Tracey, allegedly owes $42,000 for the assessments based on the amounts reported on the joint federal income tax returns she filed with her husband for the 2013-14 tax years.
In addition to getting a judgment for the money, the IRS wants to enforce a lien on the couple’s 4,122-SF house on the north end of Beaver Lake.
They bought the house in 1999 for $355,000. The house, which now has a value of $533,000, according to the Benton County Assessor’s Office, has five bedrooms and three bathrooms and features a gourmet kitchen with a Viking six-burner stovetop, according to the real estate website Zillow. Other amenities include a master suite with “steam shower for two” and “outdoor kitchen & outdoor living area, hot tub [and] boat slip.”
Whispers couldn’t reach the Bergerons for comment.
