Pediatrics Plus on Thursday broke ground for a 31,000-SF $7.2 million facility in Little Rock that will serve more than 400 special needs children and their families.
The facility "will provide physical, occupational and speech therapy, integrated preschool, early intervention services and family support," the company said in a news release.
The building and its grounds will be home to 11 classrooms, a commercial kitchen, a library, a nurse's office, an education and training room, 15,000 SF of therapy space and two playgrounds.
Construction of the center, to be located at 1900 Aldersgate Road, is projected to be completed in December.
Civil engineering is provided by White-Daters & Associates Inc., structural engineering by Engineering Consultants Inc. and mechanical-electrical by Batson Inc., all of Little Rock. The architect is Williams & Dean Associated Architects, also of Little Rock. VCC of Little Rock, the contractor for the project, has estimated the construction costs at $5 million.
Pediatrics Plus - with facilities in Russellville, Conway, North Little Rock and Little Rock - provides physical, occupational and speech therapy to children and adults up to 21. It also provides preschool services to children up to 6.
"For almost 10 years, Pediatrics Plus has served the community in central Arkansas by providing the most current and proven therapy and preschool interventions available to hundreds of children with special needs and developmental delays," Amy Denton, owner of Pediatrics Plus, said in the news release.
