David Cleveland, Kristin Allen and Arlene Cross have joined Rasco Winter Abston Moore & Associates LLP in Little Rock as certified public accountants and consultants. Cleveland is a University of Central Arkansas graduate, Allen graduated from Arkansas State University and Cross from Arkansas Tech University.
Angela Worring has been hired as the new manager of APEX Communications in Little Rock. APEX Communications, based in Wynn, is the largest AT&T-authorized retailer in Arkansas. Worring joins APEX after seven years at Alltel/Verizon.
Benjamin Grob-Fitzgibbon has been named holder of the Cleveland C. Burton Professorship in International Studies at the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville. Grob-Fitzgibbon is an assistant professor of history at the university.
Larry Hall, Leslie Hunt, Jeri Pritchett and Jennifer Stockton have been named winners of the seventh annual ICE TIP Awards by First Federal Bank of Harrison. The award recognizes team members who exhibit the bank's core values of integrity, commitment, excellence, teamwork, innovation and professionalism. Hall is vice president of special assets commercial credit in Rogers, Hunt is vice president/office administrator in Harrison, and Pritchett and Stockton are controllers in Harrison.
Jim Lindsey was awarded the Seven Seals Award by the Arkansas Committee for Employer Support of the Guard & Reserve, an agency of the Department of Defense. Lindsey was presented the award at a ceremony held in Maumelle in recognition of his support of the committee. The committee also presented the Above & Beyond Award to I. Dodd Wilson, chancellor of the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, and Patriot Awards to the UAMS chief information officer, Kari Cassel, and to Amy Watkins, a manager in the patient business services office at UAMS.
Ron Peterson has been named alternate delegate to the regional policy board of the American Hospital Association. Peterson is president and CEO of Baxter Regional Medical Center in Mountain Home.
James Magee, executive director of Piggott Community Hospital, has been named chairman of the Arkansas Hospital Association board of directors in Little Rock. Magee will oversee policy-making for the advocacy organization representing more than 100 Arkansas hospitals. Jeffrey Johnston, president and CEO of St. Edward Mercy Medical Center in Fort Smith, has been named to AHA's board.
Dr. Richard McCarthy, a spine deformity specialist at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock, has been named president of the international Scoliosis Research Society.
Brian Emenhiser has received the Farmers Crystal Blue Vase Award from Farmers Insurance Group for life insurance sales. Emenhiser, of Jonesboro, is the first agent in Arkansas to win the award.
Bobby Roberts, director of the Central Arkansas Library system, will be presented with the 2009 Vision Award by the Lions World Services for the Blind Foundation during the ninth annual Vision Award luncheon at 11:30 a.m., Thursday, Nov. 12, at the DoubleTree Hotel in Little Rock.
Allen Weatherly has been named a panelist for the Corporation for Public Broadcasting community service grant review. Weatherly is executive director of the Arkansas Educational Television Network in Conway and is a member of the Public Broadcasting Service board of directors.
Rafael Arciga was awarded the Young Community Leader Award by the League of United Latin American Citizens at a ceremony held in Bentonville. Arciga is the deputy state director of the organization.
Lindsay VanDerhoff has joined Hart Lazenby Commercial of Little Rock as marketing director. VanDerhoff previously worked in advertising for the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette before beginning her work with the real estate company.
Robert Garland has retired after 47 years with Anthony Forest Products Co. of El Dorado, where he was general manager of chipping operations. Russ Kimbell has joined Anthony Forest Products to lead the lumber sales organization. Kimbell was previously vice president and general manager of U.S. Timber's Southern division.
