Jonesboro Leader Mike Medlock Dies

Mike Medlock of Jonesboro, president of the Arkansas State University System Board of Trustees, died Wednesday at MD Anderson Hospital in Houston.

Medlock, 59, was executive vice president of Bancorp South Insurance Services of Arkansas. He is past president of Insurance Network in Jonesboro, which he grew into one of the state's top 12 agencies before it became a division of Bancorp South.

On Oct. 21, Medlock was selected as the Business Executive of the Year by the ASU College of Business Alumni Chapter. He served as tax liaison to the governmental affairs committee of Independent Insurance Agents of America, and was a past chairman of the Greater Jonesboro Chamber of Commerce Board.

In addition, Medlock served on the Jonesboro Municipal Airport Commission and Jonesboro Industrial Development Corporation Board.

A graduate of Little Rock Central High School and an ASU alumnus, Medlock is survived by his wife Lynda.
