4 Arkansans on Forbes' List of Richest Americans

Forbes magazine's latest list of the 400 Richest Americans, includes the Waltons, of course, but for the first time, puts Warren Stephens' net worth at $3 billion.

That ranks the head of Stephens Inc. in Little Rock at No. 97. Stephens is 52.

The two Walton women, Christy, the widow of John Walton, leads the family with an estimated new worth of $21.5 billion, which places her as the nation's fourth richest person. Alice Walton's wealth is put at $19.3 billion and ranks No. 6.

The two sons of the late Wal-Mart Stores Inc. founder Sam and Helen Walton, Jim and Robson, have net worths of $19.6 billion and $19 billion, respectively and are ranked No. 5 and No. 7.

Christy Walton, 54, lives in Jackson, Wyo., while Alice, 60, lives in Fort Worth. Jim, 61, and Robson, 65, both live in Bentonville.

The only other Arkansan to make the list is Johnelle Hunt, 77, widow of J.B. Hunt, who founded J.B. Hunt Transport Services Inc. at Lowell. She ranks No. 347 with a net worth of $1.1 billion.

Although not a native, one other person, who grew up in Arkansas, but now makes his home in Dallas, is Jerry Jones, owner of the Dallas Cowboys, among other things. Jones' net worth is $1.8 billion, which places him at No. 196 on the list.

Topping the list are the usual suspects. Billy Gates' $50 billion is No. 1, followed by Warren Buffet with $40 billion, both down from a year ago. Larry Ellison, who heads Oracle is third with $27 billion.
