LaFrance Holdings Files Civil Suit Against Sorensens

This should come as no surprise. Stephen L. LaFrance Holdings Inc. of Pine Bluff, the holding company of USA Drug, has filed a civil claim in Pulaski County Circuit Court against the former vice president who is already facing federal criminal charges alleging embezzlement.

Named in the lawsuit are Garret Sorensen; his wife, Katherine Sorensen; Katherine's sister, Shannon Walters; and the company they used to accomplish their billing scheme, Multi-Media Management.

LaFrance claims - as do federal prosecutors - that Sorensen defrauded USA Drug by paying about $525,000 in advertising placement fees to the company he set up with his wife and sister-in-law. LaFrance wants its money back.

The Sorensens and Walters, all of North Little Rock, are scheduled for trial in federal court on Feb. 2 on more than 30 counts of conspiracy, mail fraud and money laundering.
