Veteran restaurateur Jim Keet and his two sons, Tommy and Jake, have always wanted to start a business together. With the opening of Taziki's Greek Fare in Little Rock, their dream has been realized.
At Taziki's, a franchise new to Arkansas, the Keets "provide healthy food at an affordable cost that is made from scratch and with the finest ingredients," Tommy Keet said. When customers come to Taziki's, the Keets want them to experience a fun, friendly atmosphere. Their menu offers healthy alternatives to fast food and heavier menus at an affordable price. Taziki's is part of the new "fast-casual" restaurant movement, which offers higher quality meals than fast-food restaurants but without full table service.
Taziki's is in the Cantrell Heights Center, across from Pavilion in the Park. The restaurant occupies 3,700 SF, including 700 SF of outdoor seating. Taziki's seats 85 inside, and the front patio and back porch can accommodate an additional 50 people. New parking in the rear can accommodate 60 cars.
Before opening the restaurant, Jim Keet was a state senator and had years of experience in the food industry. Keet was semi-retired and wanted to embark on a financial adventure with his two sons. Tommy Keet was a lawyer for Windstream Corp., and Jake Keet recently graduated from Florida State University. After eating at a Taziki's restaurant in Alabama, they decided that this was what they wanted to do.
Jim, Tommy and Jake Keet bought the Taziki's franchise rights for Arkansas and Missouri and plan to open 10 restaurants in the next five years. They used a loan from Centennial Bank of Little Rock to finance the start-up, Tommy Keet said.
