The annual awards ceremony, sponsored for the 19th year by Arkansas Business Publishing Group, honored businesses, nonprofits and their executives. This year's awards program turned into an impromptu tribute to the trucking company founder J.B. Hunt, who died in December, several weeks after a panel of five independent judges selected two of his personal projects to win Business of the Year Awards.
They were Montana Tractors of Springdale, which won in the category of businesses with 26 to 75 employees, and Mountain Valley Spring Co. of Hot Springs, which was named Business of the Year in the category of businesses with 76 to 300 employees.
The night's other award winners:
• Angela Duran, president of Southern Good Faith Fund of Pine Bluff, who was named Nonprofit Executive of the Year;
• The ARC Arkansas of Little Rock, which was named Nonprofit Organization of the Year; and
• DD&F Consulting Group of Little Rock, which was named Business of the Year in the category of 25 or fewer employees.
Profiles of the winners and other finalists in each category are available here.
Also Thursday, the Arkansas Community Foundation gave out its Outstanding Philanthropic Corporation awards. This year's awards went to Simmons First National Corp. of Pine Bluff, Twin City Bank of North Little Rock, Petit Jean State Bank of Morrilton and The Hatcher Agency of Little Rock.
