A Chicago woman, Dorothy Watkins, is suing the National Railroad Passenger Corp., Amtrak and US Depots Inc. for $2 million in Pulaski County Circuit Court.
And the suit doesn't involve a train wreck.
Watkins claims she was injured while walking to the Little Rock terminal three years ago.
She alleges the walkway wasn't properly lit or maintained, causing her to fall over a protruding object.
The resulting broken bones and other alleged injuries were not treated until she reached Chicago, where she underwent corrective surgery on her right arm and wrist.
Amtrak, through attorneys at Friday Eldredge & Clark of Little Rock, denied Watkins claims, demanded a jury trial, said the fall was Watkins' fault and requested dismissal and reimbursement for costs and attorney fees.
US Depots, via Wright Lindsey & Jennings LLP of Little Rock, alleged her injuries weren't that severe and blamed the incident on the negligence of parties beyond its control.
