Garver & Garver Hires AHTD Retiree

p>Charlie Venable, the recently retired chief engineer for the Arkansas State Highway & Transportation Department, has joined the Little Rock engineering firm of Garver & Garver.

Venable will serve as assistant to the president, working on special projects. One project in particular is to develop a foothold in the growing northwest Arkansas market.

Venable has moved from Little Rock to Rogers, where he is examining the area and scouting for business for the firm. If all goes well, Garver & Garver hopes to open a northwest Arkansas office later this year.

Garver & Garver employs 107 people. It also has offices in Tulsa, Okla., and Louisville, Ky.

Commercial Development

Under Way in Springdale

Plans are under way for a large-scale commercial development in Springdale on Sunset Avenue (U.S. Highway 412).

The plans call for two buildings of 6,250 SF and 6,000 SF each, which will house an auto body repair shop and a truck service facility. The site is on 9.27 acres north of U.S. 412 and east of Sterwin Drive.

Charles Palmer of Fort Smith is the project owner and developer. Northwest Engineers of Fayetteville, a division of Crafton Tull & Associates of Rogers, is performing design work. Heckathorn Construction Co. of Springdale is the general contractor.
