Hunting, fishing and outdoor supplies retailer Cabela's Inc. of Syndey, Neb., said Monday that it will open its 100,000-SF store in Rogers on Thursday, Aug. 30.
The company plans a ribbon cutting at 8:45 a.m., and the store will open at 9 a.m. The grand opening is part of a four-day celebration spanning the Labor Day weekend, according to the Northwest Arkansas Business Journal.
The store will employ about 175 full-time, part-time and seasonal workers.
The store, announced last year, will be located adjacent to the Pinnacle Hills Promenade mall at the Perry Road interchange with Interstate 540. The store will sit in a lot near Target near the south end of the Promenade.
The store will rest on land owned in a partnership between Rogers Retail LLC and General Growth Properties of Chicago, according to John George, executive vice president of Hunt Ventures. Rogers Retail is a partnership of Johnelle Hunt and Tim Graham, who are chairman and president, respectively, of Hunt Ventures.
The publicly traded retail chain its marking its 50th anniversary this year. In 2011, it opened stores in Allen, Texas; Springfield, Ore.; and Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.
Cabela's is a competitor to Bass Pro Shops, which said June 15 that it will be part of Little Rock developer Tommy Hodges' southwest Little Rock retail development, Gateway Town Center.
That 120,000-SF store is expected to open in time for Christmas next year.
