Mission Broadcasting of Westlake, Ohio, has struck a deal to buy Little Rock television stations KLRT-TV, Channel 16, and KASN-TV, Channel 38, from Newport Television of Kansas City, Mo., according to a press release by a company that is buying other stations from Newport.
Nexstar Broadcasting Group of Irving, Texas, announced Thursday that it would be buying 10 of Newport's stations in New York, Tennessee and Utah. In the same announcement, it said that the Little Rock stations would be sold to Mission Broadcasting.
Chuck Spohn, general manager of KLRT and KASN, confirmed the transaction to ArkansasBusiness.com but said he couldn't comment on any specific changes coming with it.
The total sales price for the 12 stations is $285.5 million, according to Nexstar, which did not break down the price of individual stations.
Mission Broadcasting has a shared services agreement and joint sales agreement with Nexstar regarding KTVE-TV in El Dorado and West Monroe, La. Mission Broadcasting owns KTVE.
