McMain Mall in North Little Rock announced Wednesday the opening dates for its new 12-screen Regal Cinemas digital movie theater.
The mall, owned by Simon Property Group of Indianapolis, has set the grand opening for Sept. 21, according to a post on its Facebook page. It also announced preview events for the theater for Sept. 17-19, with $2 movies, $2 popcorn and $2 soft drinks. Proceeds from the preview events will benefit local charities, the mall said.
The new 60,000-SF theater is the final part of a multimillion-dollar renovation project announced in April 2011. It will be capable of showing 3D films and offer stadium seating in each auditorium.
VCC, the Little Rock construction firm, led the renovation project.
Other renovations included new family-friendly bathrooms, and elevator in the mall's center court, new flooring, new seating, improved lighting, new landscape features and other interior and exterior work.
The 752,763-SF mall sits on a 56-acre site at McCain Boulevard and U.S. 67/167. Its last renovation took place in 1993.
