Background: Dr. V. Suzanne Klimberg received her medical degree in 1984 from the University of Florida in Gainesville, where she also completed her residency in general surgery and a fellowship in oncology.
Experience: Klimberg currently serves as director of the Breast Cancer Program at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute in Little Rock. She is also chairwoman of breast surgical oncology, professor of surgery and pathology and director of the diseases of breast fellowship at UAMS. Klimberg has published more than 200 research papers.
She is on the editorial boards of the Annals of Surgery, Journal of Surgery, Journal of Surgical Oncology and Breast Disease Quarterly and is the breast section editor of the Annals of Surgical Oncology. She serves as a director of the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Plastic Surgery and is past president of the Association of Academic Surgery.
New Role: Klimberg was elected president of the American Society of Breast Surgeons at the group’s annual meeting earlier this year in Phoenix.
