Background: Brian H. Ratcliff graduated in 1985 with a bachelor’s degree in economics/business from Hendrix College in Conway and went on to receive his law degree from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock William H. Bowen School of Law.
Experience: In 1996, Ratcliff became a partner at Shackleford Phillips & Ratcliff PA in El Dorado, specializing in civil litigation, insurance law and workers compensation. He joined the firm in 1989, after spending his first year in practice at Goodwin Hamilton Moore & Colbert in Paragould. Ratcliff has served in a variety of leadership roles at the Arkansas Bar Association, Union County Bar Association, Arkansas Bar Foundation and Arkansas Association of Defense Counsel and has won three Golden Gavel awards.
New Position: Ratcliff was recently elected to serve a one-year term as president-elect designee of the Arkansas Bar Association beginning June 2013. He will then assume the role of president at the association’s 2014 annual meeting. “It’s something I’ve always wanted to do,” Ratcliff said. “I’ve been active in the Bar Association since my first year of practice in law, and I think it’s an opportunity to serve the attorneys of Arkansas as well as the people of Arkansas.”
