The Arkansas Travelers have named assistant general manager Paul Allen as interim general manager and added four new front office members following the team's front-office shakeup.
Allen takes over for Pete Laven, who was forced out earlier this month, along with veteran ticket manager David Kay.
Leslie Baker has been hired as director of community relations, and Jeff Daley, Ben Harrington and Eric Schrader have been named account executives.
Allen got his start in baseball with the Travelers as stadium operations intern at Ray Winder Field in 2005. He returned to the team in 2007 after a year with the Birmingham Barons and assumed the post of director of group sales in Dickey-Stephens Park's inaugural year.
He was named assistant general manager before the 2010 season and has been involved in corporate sales, team travel planning and ballpark special events.
The Travelers executive committee is planning a search for a full-time general manager.
"The executive committee of the Travelers conducted an extensive review of the club's operations and felt that a change in front office leadership was necessary to ensure the success of the ball club in the long term," team president Russ Meeks, who also serves on the six-member executive committee, said in a statement on the Travelers' website.
"We want our fans, sponsors and partners to know that the Travelers are in the process of conducting a nationwide search to find the right person to lead the Travelers into the future. There's been great interest so far in the general manager position, and I expect there will be greater interest at the Winter Meetings next week in Nashville," he said. "In the meantime, we have the utmost faith in Paul Allen and his staff as they prepare for the 2013 season."
Baker, Daley, Harrington and Schrader all served as interns with the club last season.
"This is an energetic and creative group of people inside our office right now," Allen said. "Right now we are working hard to develop an exciting 2013 season for our fans."
