Simmons First National Corp. of Pine Bluff and P.A.M. Transportation Services Inc. of Tontitown each on Thursday declared dividends and said they will pay them before the end of the year.
Simmons (Nasdaq: SFNC) declared a quarterly dividend of 20 cents per share payable Dec. 31 to shareholders of record as of Dec. 17. The dividend represents a 5 percent increase from the one declared during the same time last year.
"The timing of this payment, which would normally occur on January 2, 2013, was accelerated into 2012 as a result of likely higher tax rates on dividends in 2013," the company said in a news release.
P.A.M. Transportation Services (Nasdaq: PTSI) declared a special, one-time dividend of $1 per share. The dividend is payable on Dec. 28 to shareholders of record as of Dec. 17.
"A total of approximately $8.7 million will be paid on the company's 8.7 million outstanding shares of common stock as a result of the special dividend," the company said.
