St. Vincent Infirmary Medical Center on Monday opened the state's first hybrid operating room dedicated to cardiovascular procedures.
The facility, part of SVI's Jack Stephens Heart Institute, can be used as a cath lab and a cardiovascular surgery suite, according to a press release. The new OR is part of an on-going $36 million expansion, renovation and technology upgrade at St. Vincent.
St. Vincent Health System CEO Peter Banko said the new OR gives SVI "facilities and technology that are literally only available in a handful of centers around the country."
SVI will open a 24,000-SF cath lab in January that will include six new cath/electrophysiology labs, 24 new prep/recovery rooms and a new admitting/waiting room, according to the release. On Dec. 3, St. Vincent North in Sherwood opened two new cath labs and six new prep/recovery rooms.
