The University of Arkansas has released terms for the first three assistant coaching hires by new Razorbacks football coach Bret Bielema.
Offensive coordinator Jim Chaney will earn $550,000 annually and has agreed to a deal with the Razorbacks through June 30, 2016. Defensive coordinator Chris Ash will make $550,000 per year and his agreement runs through June 30, 2015.
Offensive line coach Sam Pittman will earn $275,000 per year through June 30, 2014.
All three letters of agreement include buyouts for the assistant coaches if they choose to leave Arkansas. Chaney and Ash would owe $100,000 and Pittman $50,000 — prorated over the term of the agreement.
Chaney, Ash and Pittman are each entitled to use of a vehicle provided by partners of the UA. Their deals include a provision for moving expenses, four complimentary tickets to football games and two tickets to other sporting events.
Pittman and Chaney are each coming to Arkansas from Tennessee. Ash was on Bielema's staff at Wisconsin.
Bielema's, whose deal with the Razorbacks will pay him $3.2 million annually for six years, said he was attract to the Arkansas job because of the salaries that would be available to his assistant coaches.
