Midtown Little Rock Hilton Hotel to Assume Clarion Brand

The Hilton Medical Center in the Midtown area of Little Rock will change flags on Jan. 6, becoming the Clarion Hotel Medical Center, according to developer Marty Belz, managing member of the hotel's operator, Arkansas Hotel Management LLC.

The 263-room hotel at 925 S. University Ave. will continue to be owned by HLR LLC and operated by Arkansas Hotel Management.

Belz said both companies remain committed to Little Rock.

"We have enjoyed our partnership with Hilton Hotels, but feel that the Choice Hotels/Clarion brand will provide a more strategic connection to the Little Rock market from a local, regional and national level," he said.

Clarion brand properties are franchised by publicly traded Choice Hotels International Inc. (NYSE: %%CHH%%), which also owns the Comfort Inn, Comfort Suites, Sleep Inn and EconoLodge hotel brands.

Also this week, developers announced that the Marriott brand will replace the Peabody Hotel in downtown Little Rock. The Peabody Little Rock, with 418 rooms and 22 suites, has been controlled by another Belz company, BG Excelsior Ltd.

BG Excelsior announced in June that it would sell the Peabody property to Fairwood Capital LLC of Memphis.
