The benefits of Transparency.Arkansas.gov, a website described more thoroughly in the story on Page 10, include a handy search feature that permitted Outtakes to track down and add up Arkansas’ recent spending on the advertising and marketing services of local ad agencies.
Cranford Johnson Robinson Woods of Little Rock tops the list Outtakes compiled, with ad agencies ranked by the state’s reported payments to them.
|Agency||Paid by State:|
|Cranford Johnson Robinson Woods, Little Rock||$5,660,662.00|
|The Communications Group, Little Rock||$1,510,347.00|
|Stone Ward, Little Rock||$743,098.00|
|Advantage Communications, Little Rock||$390,311.00|
|Mangan Holcomb Partners, Little Rock||$119,534.00|
|The Design Group, Little Rock||$5,000.00|
Dollar totals for July 1, 2012-Jan. 2, 2013
Also useful is the way the website breaks down expenditures by the state agency that received the services.
For example, CJRW has earned about $5.7 million in state dollars so far in fiscal year 2013, which began July 1.
Transparency.Arkansas.gov reveals that CJRW made about $4.1 million of the money it received from the state for ad work done for the Arkansas Department of Parks & Tourism. The department that paid CJRW the next highest amount was the Arkansas State Police, which paid $926,240 for “professional fees and services,” according to the state’s website.
