Rep. Davy Carter, R-Cabot, said Thursday that he's leaving his job at Centennial Bank, a subsidiary of Home BancShares Inc. of Conway.
Carter, who is Speaker of the Arkansas House, had been the bank's division president. The announcement comes as the 89th General Assembly prepares to convene on Monday.
"I am extremely grateful for the many opportunities afforded to me during my time at Centennial Bank," Carter said in a prepared statement. "My association with the people there has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life, both professionally and personally, and it is very difficult for me to leave an organization that is so close to my heart.
"Right now I am completely focused on the legislative session and the many issues we will face in the upcoming months."
