Crossett Lawyers See Legal Bills Paid in Affiliated Foods Case

In the ongoing bankruptcy liquidation case of Affiliated Foods Southwest Inc. of Little Rock, another payment for legal fees was approved Thursday.

The amount?

$144,719.19 will go to the law firm of Streetman Meeks & Gibson PLLC of Crossett.

It was for services and expenses rendered between June 14 and Dec. 18.

Affiliated has been in Chapter 7 bankruptcy since 2009. And by all accounts, the company and its books were a mess.

It reported $47.6 million in assets and $101.5 million in debt — $62.5 million of it unsecured.

The fallout from the company’s collapse included prison sentences for former CEO John Mills and former CFO Alexander “Lex” Martinez. Mills was released in June, having served about 18 months of a 41-month sentence. Martinez, who was sentenced to one year, was released from Bureau of Prisons supervision in October. Mills probably got credit for his testimony against Martinez.
