A news release emailed to Arkansas Business says North Little Rock water park Wild River Country has been acquired by a company called Aquapark Holdings LLC and is now under new management.
The news release came from a public relations agency in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.
In emails to Arkansas Business, Aquapark's agency contact, Tina Hatcher said Aquapark is "a private investment company," and that the company purchased the park from Halcyon Attractions of Arkansas LLC.
Aquapark Holdings LLC of North Little Rock was registered with the state of Arkansas on Oct. 30, according to the Secretary of State's office. The registered agent is Morton Fishman of Riviera Beach, Fla.
"They do not own any other water parks," Hatcher said in an email. "One of the principals lives in Florida and had helped finance the park in the past, which recently led to the purchase of the park."
According to Hatcher, a company called Reve Management had operated the park on behalf of former owner Halcyon for the past three years.
"The previous management company did not have any experience in working with or operating other water parks, nor did they have a financial incentive to make the necessary investments required to maintain and upgrade the park," Hatcher said. "The new owners are committed to implementing significant improvements over the next few years under the guidance of Chris Shillcut, a 22-year veteran of the water park/attraction industry."
Shillcutt, a native of North Little Rock, is the park's new vice president of operations.
"I am grateful to have the opportunity to return to my hometown and join a team that will place family entertainment first," Shillcutt said in a news release. "Our short-term vision is to improve the park each year so to add value to our guests’ and make the waterpark a show case for the Little Rock area."
According to the release, Shillcutt most recently worked for Great Wolf Lodge Resorts in Kansas City and the Pocono Mountains.
