The Arkansas Small Business and Technology Development Center will host Lab2Launch, a one-day commercialization training event for university researchers and high-tech entrepreneurs, at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock on March 12.
According to a UALR news release, participants will learn how to move scientific discoveries and new technologies toward commercialization. The training will cover:
- opportunities to fund research and development using federal or industry dollars
- connections between innovation and commercialization
- patent and legal information
- the technology transfer process.
Laura Schoppe and Danielle McCulloch of Fuentek LLC will lead the training. Fuentek specializes in intellectual property management and technology transfer services.
Lab2Launch will be Tuesday, March 12, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at UALR’s Donald W. Reynolds Center for Business and Economic Development. Advance registration is required. The registration fee, which includes breakfast and lunch, is $150. Register online at asbtdc.org/events. Faculty from Arkansas universities may participate at the discounted faculty rate of $75. To receive the faculty discount, call 501.683.7700 before March 5.
"Scientists, laboratory researchers and engineers are experts in their disciplines but may not know how to take their research from a lab to a market," said Michael Singleton, ASBTDC’s innovation and market research manager. "Lab2Launch participants will walk away understanding the business opportunity their research presents."
