Last week we told you about a sale that was in the works between Arkansas Orthodontics, which has five locations in northwest Arkansas, and Dr. Ben Burris of Jonesboro, who has five dental clinics in northeast Arkansas.
Well, the deal closed on Tuesday, and we understand the purchase price was in the neighborhood of $8 million.
With 10 locations, Burris claims the title of having the largest individually owned orthodontic practice in the country.
And he’s not done acquiring offices.
“We’re certainly interested in expanding but we want to do it one step at a time,” he told Whispers.
Right now he’s concentrating on the five locations in northwest Arkansas, which will remain under the name Arkansas Orthodontics. Burris’ five offices in northeast Arkansas are called Braces by Burris.
Burris bought Arkansas Orthodontics from Dr. Bill Pickard, whose last name was misspelled in last week’s Whisper.
Burris said he’s going to focus on “great patient treatment and great customer service” at the locations.
He said he plans to keep the four orthodontists in place and the approximately 50 members of its staff at Arkansas Orthodontics.
“It’s a great business and that’s why I bought it,” Burris said.
