A $6.4 million, 82-room Comfort Suites hotel recently opened at the Crossroads Business Park in Texarkana.
The hotel is part of a larger group of businesses alongside Interstate 30, including the area’s largest projects, a convention center with attached Holiday Inn and the Holiday Springs Water Park, both still under construction.
The business park also includes other businesses such as a Copeland’s.
“We will now have about five or six hotels within the immediate proximity of the water park and convention center,” said Charles Nickerson, vice president of economic development for the Texarkana USA Chamber of Commerce.
He said the hotel would be a valuable source of jobs and would cater to business travelers that, Nickerson said, frequently pass through the city.
“The major employers come in and out during the week,” he said. “It helps keep the hotels full. The water park and other convention-related activities will hopefully encourage people to stop in Texarkana and take advantage of what we have to offer here.”
The $18 million convention center and the $40 million water park are still on track to open in the spring, Nickerson added.
