The Arkansas Department of Workforce Services in October issued “Arkansas Long-Term Industry & Occupational Projections,” detailing its forecasts for the long-term job market.
“Arkansas’s industries are projected to add 96,856 new jobs over the 2010-2020 projection period. Goods-Producing industries are expected to add 4,411 new jobs while the Services-Providing industries should see the majority of the growth, with 82,718 new jobs being added,” the report says.
The first graphic looks at growth by what the department calls “super sectors.” The second examines the growth of jobs in the state by education level. “Occupations requiring a Bachelor’s degree are likely to add 16,684 jobs during the projection period, but occupations that require a high school diploma or equivalent will have more annual job openings than any other education level, with 18,365 jobs expected each year,” the report says.
