Brenda Ponsford Poised To Take Over School of Business at Henderson State (Super Mover)

Brenda Ponsford was named dean of Henderson State University’s School of Business following a nationwide search late last year. She will replace Interim Dean Louis Dawkins, who played a pivotal role in the school’s 2013 AACSB International reaffirmation. Ponsford’s appointment will become effective July 1. “We are truly excited to have Dr. Ponsford as a member of our senior administrative team,” said Glen Jones, Henderson president. “Her experience, enthusiasm, vision and leadership style are ideal as we strive to enhance the School of Business while meeting the needs of business and industry in our community and region.”

Background: After earning her bachelor’s degree from Virginia Polytechnic Institute & State University, Ponsford went on to receive a master’s degree in business and began to teach marketing at Radford University in Virginia. She later taught at Seton Hall University before joining the University of San Diego in 1990 as an assistant professor of marketing. In 1996, she also served as a visiting professor at the Institute of Business & Economics at the Academy of National Economy in Moscow.

Experience: Ponsford has served on the faculty of Clarion University of Pennsylvania since 2002. During her tenure at Clarion, she has been instrumental in doubling enrollment of all MBA programs and has served as the chair of the marketing department since 2005. Because of her experiences abroad, Ponsford has extensive international experience with teaching, consulting, conducting research and developing university strategic partnerships with key institutions. She also has a successful fundraising record and has experience with Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business accreditation.
