The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences on Friday named William R. Bowes as its chief financial officer.
Bowes, who has more than 30 years of higher education finance experience, will begin July 1, according to a news release from UAMS. His annual salary will be $270,000, UAMS said.
Of Bowes’ 32 years working in higher education finance, 26 have been in senior management positions at the system and institutional levels. He most recently was chief financial officer for the Connecticut Colleges and State Universities Board of Regents for Higher Education, which includes four Connecticut state universities and 12 community and technical colleges.
"We are lucky to have found someone with a skill set and experience level tailor-made to step in here and begin making an immediate impact," UAMS Chancellor Dan Rahn said in the news release.
Bowes replaces Melony Goodhand, who left at the end of 2012 but remained available to UAMS as a consultant. Her latest annual salary was $312,120.
