Dr. Tom Cummins joined St. Vincent on April 1. As vice president of medical affairs and chief medical officer at the St. Vincent Health System, he will oversee the quality of patient care. He will also maintain relationships and communication between physicians and members of the organization’s administration.
Cummins received his bachelor’s degree from Baylor University. He completed medical school and an internal medical residency at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. He earned his master’s degree in medical management at Carnegie Mellon University.
He gained extensive clinical experience as a board-certified internist and group practice partner from 1995 to 2008. He served as the chief medical officer and director of hospital medicine at the White River Medical Center in Batesville from 2009 to 2013. He has chaired and served on numerous hospital committees and filled the role of medical director for several hospital units.
