It appears Hank’s Fine Furniture of North Little Rock is standing behind the embattled Southern chef Paula Deen.
While we were unable to reach a spokesperson for the furniture chain last week, we found a flier at one of its stores announcing a 25 percent sale on all Paula Deen items.
A Hank’s salesman told us the sale had been going on for more than a month, well before the controversy surrounding her erupted last month. If you recall, she was accused of using a racial slur, which led to the Food Network dropping her cooking show and Wal-Mart Stores Inc. of Bentonville abandoning its merchandising relationship with her.
The Hank’s salesman told us that the sale didn’t mean that the chain was getting rid of Deen’s inventory in its 14 stores across five Southern states. And Deen’s items continue to be promoted on the Hank’s website.
“These collections offer affordable, high quality, multi-functional pieces that can be mixed and matched to fit the way your family lives,” Hank’s website said. “After all who knows your home better than Paula Deen?”
