The Buffalo Grill in west Little Rock closed its doors Wednesday, a victim, the owner said, of the economy and the upsurge in new restaurants even farther west.
"The city grew out past us and all the big, beautiful new restaurants opened up," Doug Green said. "The pie got sliced thinner and thinner. It just was not possible to keep it open. I struggled and struggled with it and I just finally had to put my baby down."
"I made it three months shy of 25 years," an emotional Green said of the location at 400 N. Bowman Road.
He said the Buffalo Grill west had about 60 employees both part time and full time. He'll try to absorb some of those at his other restaurants, said Green, who also owns the original Buffalo Grill in Riverdale and Canon Grill in Hillcrest.
Green said he'd also try to place some at restaurants owned by his friends, who had called asking him about his top workers.
"It's just life," he said. "Things change."
