Major provisions of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act will go into effect in less than five months, giving uninsured, working age Arkansans an opportunity to take advantage of the new health care law.
But there are numerous implications for both individuals and businesses. Legal questions, tax questions and questions of implementation are all waiting to be answered as Arkansas moves toward realizing a vision of a healthier, more productive work force.
Arkansas Business has traditionally reported important trends and issues affecting business in the state and it is in this spirit that we join with our esteemed partners to present the 2013 Health Care Reform Symposium. This accompanying supplement is designed to get you thinking about the impacts to your business.
Our ambition is to help clear up many of the questions surrounding the new law, which will affect businesses of all sizes as well.
The experts assembled on our panel bring a wealth of knowledge based on their experiences with the various facets of the new law, and we are pleased to provide a forum in which they can share that knowledge with our state’s business leaders, owners and executives.
We extend our thanks to our speakers, panel members and moderator for lending their expertise and informed insight to this event. Our appreciation also goes to our sponsors, Arkansas Blue Cross and Blue Shield; BKD, LLP; CGI; Kutak Rock; Regions Insurance and St. Vincent Health System. Additionally we extend our gratitude to the Arkansas Department of Human Services, the Insurance Department and the Arkansas Foundation for Medical Care, along with Joe Thompson and ACHI for their willingness to serve on the lunch panel.
Major change does not always come easily. We at Arkansas Business hope this symposium and special report will help employers navigate the intricacies of the new law and make informed choices that will allow your employees, and your company, to thrive in the future.
