East Arkansas Broadcasters of Wynne announced this week it had acquired six radio stations from MAX Media of Arkansas LLC.
According to a news release, the stations include KCJC-FM, 103.3, (River Country); KWKK-FM, 100.9, (River Hits); KVLD-FM, 99.3, (Sharpe); and KCAB-AM, 980, (River Talk), all of Russellville, as well as the Morrilton stations KVOM-FM, 101.7, and ESPN affiliate KVOM-AM, 800.
Filings with the Federal Communications Commission show that the six stations were purchased for $3 million. EAB reports in the release that the deal makes it the largest radio group in the state by number of stations owned.
"We are very excited to add these River Valley-area radio stations to the EAB family," CEO Bobby Caldwell said in the release. "We take great pride in providing quality local programming with all of our stations and we look forward to doing the same in the river valley."
EAB began in 1956 in Wynne with KWYN-AM, 1400, and has since expanded to Jonesboro, Stuttgart and Pocahontas. The group also owns EAB Sports Network, which partners with Arkansas State University's athletics programs.
