Dr. Suzanne Klimberg is a co-inventor of MelodyDX, the first product of Ascendant Diagnostics LLC, a startup company in Fayetteville. As medical director of Ascendant, Klimberg will lead clinical validation studies and educate health care providers about MelodyDX, according to CEO Omid Moghadam. “Dr. Klimberg has made significant contributions to improving outcomes for women with breast cancer, and we feel fortunate to have her helping us bring our diagnostic test to market,” he said.
Klimberg holds the Muriel Balsam Kohn Chair in Breast Surgical Oncology at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock and is a professor of surgery and pathology. She is also director of the Fellowship in Diseases of the Breast at UAMS and the John L. McClellan VA Hospital in Little Rock.
Klimberg has received competitive research funding awards from national organizations such as the National Institutes of Health, American Cancer Society and Susan G. Komen Foundation. She is the co-inventor with Larry Suva of MelodyDx, an early-stage breast cancer screening test that uses the protein profile found in a patient’s tears.
